The Greek Patent Law 1733/1987 Article 5 is derived from Article 52 of the EPC . Article 5, paragraph 2(c) states that computer programs are not proper subject matter for inventions. Under Greek patent law, inventions are patentable if they are capable of industrial application. The Greek Patent Act has been revised to conform with the Munich Convention on the grant of European Patents.
There are no regulations that deal specifically with the patentability of software.
The patentability of computer software was refused by the Salonika Court of First Instance in case 1571/1989 (reported in Commercial Law Review 1991, 157).
