The Irish Patents Act, 1992, brought the provisions of Irish patent law into conformity with those of the EPC. Section 9 of the Irish Patents Act corresponds with Article 52 of the EPC .
The Irish Patents Office does not examine applications for novelty or inventive step. It is the responsibility of the applicant to amend the application to take account of any relevant prior art.
There is no case law that deals specifically with the patentability of software.
Ireland has implemented the EPC Regulations for the Protection of Topographies of Semiconductor Products, 1988-1991.
