We are a leading national law firm in one of the country's most rapidly expanding legal practice areas - intellectual property litigation. Located in Chicago, with a branch office in Washington, D.C., we combine the benefits of a medium size firm (25 lawyers) with a sophisticated federal court litigation practice usually associated with larger firms. That practice encompasses such diverse legal issues as trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, right of publicity, advertising misrepresentations, computer software and hardware protection, trademark counterfeiting, and gray market importation of goods. Associates regularly participate in district and appellate proceedings throughout the country. The firm is over 100 years old, having been founded in 1883, and has a broad client base. Representative clients are:

The firm strongly encourages scholarship and service to the profession. Firm members, including associates, teach courses at Northwestern University and the John Marshall law schools. Firm members have written books used in many of the top law schools, and regularly publish articles and give talks throughout the country. We also are active in local and national bar associations, often in leadership positions, with firm members having served as President of the Chicago Bar Association, Regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and Chairman of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the ABA, as well as having chaired many national committees and advised Congress on proposed legislation.

We are looking for bright, hard-working associates with a compelling desire to become authorities in their field and to excel at federal court litigation. A technical background is not required since the firm's practice is primarily non-patent.

Anticipated salaries and benefits for new associates are competitive and successful candidates will ordinarily advance to partnership in seven years.
